Good Things To Come....

I've been working with the lovely Timi from
Cinnamon Girl Studio
on a new design for my little computer house
here at Tout-Est-Des-Roses.

If posting has been slim
it is because of ALL of the wonderful things
I have in store, darlings<3

This Monday the new site will debut
along with a word on the OTHER big project
I've been working on for the past month.

I hope you'll be as excited as I am:)

Baby Wearing Tuesday:
Triathlon Round Two--
Babywearing Photography

Our second challenge for the
Sakura Bloom Triathlon,
is to post our favorite babywearing photo
that we feel captures the joy of wearing our baby.

FUN TIMES, I say:)

SO, for this challenge,
I thought I'd take several pictures
(thank you Betsy!)
of my favorite things
(Pixie, umbrellas, my sling, plaid,
and the rainbow plethora of leaves
that tumble about outside)

and show you our joy in babywearing.

I think its evident.

(please click on each pic to get a closer view<3)
If Mary Poppins had a baby,
she would totally wear her baby in a sling:)

And gaze at the marvelous, marvelous skies.

And watch beavers build their houses
(pretending of course,
that they are Narnian beavers and can talk).

Sift through our gold like pirates.

And stop to mark every immense moment.

Because it is the unscripted moments
where we love and live and breathe
that make life worth hanging onto.

(The final two pictures above are my entries into the competition
---you can't make stuff like that up:)

How else would one frolic so freely,
with a wee one on a rainy day?

Growing...

Wolf and I have spent the better part of today
engrossed in discussion
regarding making some changes in our lives.
Our desire is to endeavor to delve deeper into
the Waldorf and Montessori
ways of teaching,
....of growing our children.

Allowing them to grow for themselves.

We already facilitate so much of our home
around that which is natural and nurturing--
but, I really want to take the extra steps to create
an environment of beautiful learning opportunities.

A lovely friend on Twitter has already told me
of a must-see video called Edison's Day--
which I can't wait to purchase and watch.

Do any of my other natural parenting friends have tips or suggestions?

drink me.

this day is a madhatterteaparty
and i'm the only
sane one.
poor me,
not able to find my center.
tell me a riddle-rhyme
sir caterpillar.
how doth the little
crocodile
improve his shining tail?
i don't know.
(i don't think you do either)
i sit here wondering
as i wonder
and what i wish
is for a star to hitch
my boat to.
there is no end to how
far i could go
with
just
a
little
propulsion.

so very far
away.

said the letter.
and i did
becoming
so small
i faded away.

Almost Wordless Wednesday:
I believe they have a secret...

.....and judging from Pixie's expression
there is definite cause for alarm.

Baby Wearing Tuesday:
Do your babies wear their babies?

Doll slings for Doll babies by Natural Pod

These may have to be on Pixie's holiday wish list
(which is still heavily influenced by mama's input:)

Nothing against Barbie dolls....
but I can't stand them.

I can't stand the idea of Barbie's
plastic nipple-less chest
and clothing
so snug it is a struggle
to pull
the polyester fabric
over her
ample hips.

Plastic feet
so arched on tip-toe
that the only shoe that will fit
is a stiletto?

Is this the play
we desire for our daughters?

Not I.

I want my babies, to wear their babies.
To nurture, as I nurture.
To imagine, as I imagine.

To foster caring in their small hearts
through natural, organic play.

We wonder why
our world is in turmoil
and why little girls
don't stay little very long.

Perhaps we should stop
handing them
bright pink boxes
full of plastic women.......
.......and just let them wear their babies.

Wear their babies and play<3

Triskadecaphobia!

I adore the movie Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.
No matter how many times we watch it
I want to take Dustin Hoffman and stuff him in my pocket.
I think the character of Mr. Magorium
is my long lost Uncle on my Mothers side
and I should claim my lineage immediately.

Perhaps I will suddenly inherit a pair of crazy eyebrows
and a marvelous speech impediment:)

Today we are sitting in my big bed, amidst quilts and feather duvets.
We have raspberry smoothies and our fuzzy socks on.
I promised a "movie afternoon" once school pages were completed
and each child had done their chores---and a "movie afternoon" it is.

Resplendent with smoothies, fuzzy socks, much too many blankets,
and a heavy dose of magic.

Yes. Triskadecaphobia!

Thanks Giving.

My minds eye grows pumpkins by the metre.
By the yard.

Lengths and lengths of starry pumpkins.

And I take them and break them
and dip out the middle.

I dip out the middle and I scoop out the heart
and I roll and I pat and I cut and I bake

until lastly a pie sits before me,
condensing smells of
family into the air.

And I remember the year
my Mother and I fought over the venue.
And the year the lost monogrammed napkins
caused a swift and momentary panic.

I smell my father's cologne
and my Aunt's mashed potatoes
that we tell her every year are the best we've ever had.

Cinnamon scents of children fingers,
and driveways lined with cars
until the neighbors can't park,
and wishbones, wishbones, wishbones.

I want to package this food
that we stir, we make, we bake.
I want to take it to Darfur
and sit in a hut
and revel in the shame of my abundance.

I would very much like
to give enough away
to break even.

Does anybody have
the number to the embassy?

...and I leave you with Cummings.

who knows if the moon's a balloon, coming out of a keen city in the sky---filled with pretty people? (and if you and I should
get into it, if they
should take me and take you into their balloon, why then
we'd go up higher with all the pretty people

than houses and steeples and clouds:
go sailing
away and away sailing into a keen
city which nobody's ever visited, where

always
it's Spring) and everyones
in love and flowers pick themselves.
